Blythe Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Blythe makes seasonal planting collections for the home.

Blythe is run by Chloe Jutteau, trading as Blythe, as a sole trader. For the purposes of data protection law, Blythe is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need to run a small plant business well.

When you place an order, we collect your name, email address, delivery address and the details of what you ordered. We also collect the date and time of your order and how much you paid.

When you email us, we collect your email address and whatever you choose to tell us, including any photographs you send.

Payments are handled by Shopify and its payment providers. We never see or store your full card details.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

Take, confirm and fulfil your order, and deliver your collection to you.

Email you about your order, including dispatch and tracking updates.

Answer your questions and put things right if something goes wrong.

Keep the records we're legally required to keep.

We don't use your information for anything else, and we don't sell it to anyone.

4. Our legal bases

Data protection law requires us to have a reason for each use of your information. Ours are:

Contract: to process and deliver the order you've placed.

Legal obligation: to keep transaction records for tax and accounting purposes.

Legitimate interests: to answer your emails and resolve any problems with an order.

5. Marketing emails

We don't currently send marketing emails, and we won't add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.

If that changes, we'll ask for your consent first, and every email will include a simple way to unsubscribe.

6. Who we share your information with

We share the minimum needed to get your collection to you:

Shopify, which powers our store and checkout and holds your order details.

Payment providers used at checkout, to take your payment securely.

Our delivery courier, currently DPD, who receive your name, address and contact details so they can deliver your collection and send you tracking updates.

Our accountant or HMRC where the law requires it, for example for tax records.

We may also share information if we're legally required to, for example in response to a court order.

7. Cookies

Our site uses a small number of cookies to make it work and to understand how it's used. Shopify sets cookies to keep your basket and checkout working, and our hosting may set cookies that help the site load properly.

We don't use cookies to follow you around the internet or to advertise to you.

8. How long we keep your information

We keep order and transaction records for six years, which is how long tax law asks us to hold them.

Emails you send us are kept for as long as they're useful for looking after your orders, and then deleted.

We don't keep your information for longer than we need to.

9. Where your information is kept

Your information is stored by Shopify and our website hosting provider, whose servers are located in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States.

Where information is transferred outside the UK, Shopify and our other providers use approved safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect it.

10. Your rights

You have rights over your personal information under UK data protection law. You can ask us to:

Tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy of it.

Correct anything that's wrong.

Delete information we no longer need.

Stop or limit the way we use it.

Give you a copy in a format you can take elsewhere.

To use any of these rights, email chloe@blythe.house. We'll respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we share anything, and we'll never charge you for a reasonable request.

11. Keeping your information safe

We're a small business, so we keep this simple: we collect as little as possible, we access it only when we need to, and we rely on established providers such as Shopify, whose security is far stronger than anything we could build alone.

If something ever went wrong with your information, we'd tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office promptly and honestly.

12. Links to other websites

Our site links to other places, such as our Instagram page. This policy only covers blythe.house. Please have a look at the privacy policies of any other sites you visit through us.

13. Children

You need to be 18 or over to order from us. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version on this page is always the current one, and the date below tells you when it last changed.
